East Coast Showdown is partnering with Sakhi for South Asian Women this year. Not only do we aspire to spread cultural awareness through a medium where traditional dance forms such as Bhangra and Garba-Raas are performed and celebrated, but we are also committed to giving back to the South Asian community. Sakhi is a nonprofit whose mission is to represent the South Asian diaspora in a survivor-led movement for gender justice and to honor the collective and inherent power of all survivors of violence. Sakhi is committed to serving survivors through a combination of efforts including—but not limited to—direct services, advocacy and organizing technical assistance, and community outreach. Sakhi has supported over 1,500 survivors since 1989 and donated over $700,000 in housing assistance to survivors and their families. We have donated over $10,000 to South Asian charities in the past six years and are excited to contribute to Sakhi's mission. We remain committed to donating 100% of our proceeds, the net total of operating expenses, to Sakhi this upcoming year.
